Each aligner is just slightly different from the one before, and that allows us to put gentle forces on the teeth to move them to where we want them to be — until we get them positioned just right.”

How long does Invisalign take?

This is one of the questions we’re asked most, and the honest answer is that it depends on your teeth.

“The length of time varies depending on how much crowding you have and how complex the movements are. Some people can be done in as little as four months. Others can occasionally be as much as two years — but that’s quite unusual. Most people are done within twelve months.”

Your Invisalign journey at Everwell, step by step

Understanding what you want to change. “The most important thing for me to begin with is understanding your problem and what you want to change,” says Dr Jo. Your treatment is built around your goals — not ours.
A full mouth scan. We take a digital 3D scan of your teeth, so there are no messy impressions.
An outcome simulator. You’ll see on screen what your smile looks like now and get an idea of what can be achieved — a lovely moment for a lot of patients.
Photos and planning. We send everything off to Invisalign and begin building your ClinCheck.
Your ClinCheck. This is a computer-animated 3D model showing your starting point, your predicted finish, and how many aligners (steps) it will take to get there. Dr Jo refines this until it’s exactly right: “I always end up working through a few ClinChecks — it’s never the first one that comes back that I’m happy with. We spend time on it until I get it exactly where I want it to be.”
Reviewing it together. We go through the plan with you so you understand everything involved before you commit.
Aligners and attachments. Once your aligners are made, we add small tooth-coloured “attachments” that help guide the movements. You’ll know about these in advance — no surprises.
Regular reviews. We’ll see you roughly every six weeks (this varies from person to person) to check everything is tracking well and that you’re comfortable.
Whitening and finishing touches. More on this below.
Retainers. “Retainers are how we keep that beautiful smile in place and make sure everything lasts for a long time,” says Dr Jo.

So we add a little edge bonding, a tiny bit of white filling that blends seamlessly, to give that lovely, even, balanced, youthful smile.”
